Church Activities: GEMS and
Cadets
The Calvinist Cadet Corps is an independent (non-denominational) youth ministry organization whose purpose is to provide the local church with a ministry program that will enable them to effectively share Christ's love with boys from their church and community. Founded in 1952, the Corps has more than 600 clubs throughout North America. In addition to Bible study, boys are encouraged to explore God’s creation through badge work on over 100 merit badges. These range from Archery to Coin Collecting to Music, Sewing, Surfing and Team Sports and many, many more. In addition to regular club nights, monthly “fun” outings keep our boys hopping - LaserTag, rock climbing, camping, and paintball to name a few.
The Bayview Cadet club meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday beginning in September through May. Club meetings begin at 6:45pm. Contact Craig Doty (619-980-3935) for registration information, or if you want to join in ministering God’s love to young men, ages 7 and up. We are on Facebook as “Bayview OPC Calvinist Cadet Club” so feel free to join and receive email updates. The links below provide much more information on Southern California Cadet events, and our headquarters organization in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
A young girls program, known as GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) is currently on hiatus but Bayview is looking for a few good ladies to help lead this program. If you are interested in this ministry, please contact Dee Doty (619-980-4361) or click on the link below for more information.”
